• NOT REACHING THE RIGHT AUDIENCE ON THE INTERNET?

Not reaching the right audience on the internet?

Reaching your preferred target audience on the internet is not always easy to do. Whether it’s because you’re unable to identify your exact audience or you’re unable to reach them by not defining the correct parameters to reach them – it decreases your overall reach and visibility, reducing sales

Who is the right audience?

The right audiences are people who are most likely to be interested in your product/service and are more likely to buy it. These are the people whom you need to reach. They may be united by common characteristics – like geographic location, demographics, and level of education. You must also identify what is the medium you want to use to reach them, a tweet will be seen only by your followers, whereas a sponsored post/tweet can reach a wider audience.

Why does reaching the right audience matter?

With the right audience you can develop brand loyalty and build affinity – a valuable relationship that will serve you in the long run. When you know who the right audience is you can figure out what websites they use, what platforms are they available on, and what kind of content and messaging speaks well to them. As a result, you can get more leads, customers, and referrals for your potential business growth. Once you identify the right audience, you can prioritize your resources and plan more precisely.

What are you doing wrong?

  • Not identifying your target audience exactly or being too general in your definition of an ideal audience. By having a generic definition of a target audience, you cast a very wide net that targets nobody.
  • You’re targeting them incorrectly by not identifying the right medium to reach out to them eg. if you’re targeting video gamers on facebook, you may have fewer hits as compared to twitter or twitch.
  • Your audience is made up of people that you want to engage with rather than people who want to engage with you. Your product/service must offer them a genuine benefit to make them want to engage with you.
  • Not having relevant messaging. You’re either creating a disconnect with what you’re trying to say and what your audience wants to hear, or you’re using the wrong type of language eg. using formal language while targeting teenagers.
  • Beating around the bush: figure out what’s important to your audience and speak to them directly only about the topic

How to reach the right audience?

  • Identify and define the correct audience for you.
  • Use relevant messaging and platforms to reach the target audience.
  • Timing matters. Determine when your audience is active and target them accordingly.
  • Use social media to engage your audience.
  • Focus on audience preferences and consistently revise your parameters based on the data generated.
  • Bring in an outsider. Ask someone outside of your team or company to look at your plan, often a fresh perspective may help you catch mistakes you may have overlooked or identify a new angle to consider.

The more specific you get about who the right audience is for you, the easier it will be to reach them – improving your marketing and business goals.
